Shaped wires (also known as solid profiles) allow manufacturers to achieve complex geometries and cross-sections which are impossible or more expensive to do with alternative production methods.

With shaped wires, design details such as a groove can be added or different edges with tighter tolerances shaped. All of which contribute to a lower number of production processes and thus lower costs and material wastage.
